We got a call that the doctors all agreed that they want to do another echo before her surgery which we were hoping they would just to triple check and get the most up to date measurements. So they scheduled it for the morning of her pre-op appointment (July 8th 9:30am).
After much research and thought we have decided that we will not be direct blood donors to Abby for her surgery. After having it explained to us by the cardio department and asking what her doctors would prefer we have decided to follow their advice and let the donor be anonymous. The long & short is that if I am her match I could only donate a very small percentage to her because I carried her and I have antibodies in my blood still. And the doctors prefer to use the blood bank so that's what we are going to do. Vince & I did decide we will go to the blood bank before her surgery and donate on her behalf to pay it forward/back. So if anyone else would like to donate on Abby's behalf we would love it!
Our goal right now is to keep Abby healthy. If she catches a bug at all within 2 weeks of surgery it will be rescheduled. She is currently working on getting over a summer cold. Angela checked her over yesterday and said her lungs sounded clear but we need to keep doing saline and suctioning the mucus out to help her. I called the cardio nurses line today to ask if she could stay on her probiotic and they said yes and then asked how she was. I told them she was almost over a cold and they said if she wasn't better by Monday then I needed to call and they would most likely reschedule her surgery. So we could use all the extra prayers & thoughts you can spare to help her kick this cold & then stay healthy for the next 2 1/2 weeks!
Abby has a pre-pre-op appointment coming up at her pediatrician on July 1st and I will update after that appointment or if something changes between now and then. Vince & I both know its going to take a village the first few weeks after surgery so if anyone wants to come hang out with the boys or take one/both for a few hours we would love it! Or if you want to come hang out on the couch with Abby while we can give the boys some much needed time with us that would be great too!
