Ben's Superhero Party

After Ben decided on his birthday party theme I got to work on ideas but then that whole buying-selling-moving all in 34 days thing happened. So I pushed the party date back a few weeks for sanity's sake. Ben was so so so excited about his birthday pasty! He picked the guest list himself-he insisted that his girlfriend Caitlin be on the list! Too cute! The Wednesday before his party he had spent the day with Grandma and she texted me that he fell asleep on the couch-that never happens. That was my first clue that maybe a bug had gotten a hold of him. He was running a little fever off and on and was cranky and had a runny nose-so I kept him home from school on Thursday. Friday he seemed to be on the mend and we breathed a sigh of relief. But Saturday morning was a different story-I took his temp at breakfast and it was 99.7 but then a few hours later he told me he need a long sleeve shirt because he was cold-it was really warm in the house so I knew that was a bad sign. I took his temp and it was 102.4.  Ugh. Party was officially cancelled. We had no idea what cold/virus he had or if he was still contagious. I was not going to be "that mom" and expose 20 kids to it right before Thanksgiving. So we send the text to cancel. Ben was so upset. We called all the grandparents, and Aunts & Uncles and they all decided that they would chance it-this made Ben happy again! He was mostly concerned with his piñata & his presents. I ran to the basement and wrapped up some gifts that I had for him for Christmas. A few of his friends still came to drop off their gifts-so nice! And it made Ben so happy! We had a great little family party and Ben had a blast! The saddest past was when Ben wanted to do his piñata on the porch and he was the only one pulling the ribbon and whacking it. But he didn't seem to mind much!

Ben's 4 Year Check-Up

We had our annual well visit trip to see Dr Slaymaker a few weeks back. As usual all was great! He is right on track to where he should be! He's still in that 50%-60% for his height & weight. He's 35 lbs and 39 1/2'' tall.  He had the choice of shots or no shots and of course Ben chose no shots! Smart kid!

Babies:: 35 Weeks

  • Abby loves pasta
  • Will only wants baby food
  • Abby only wants people food

Babies:: 8 Months

*The babies were so not in the picture taking mood until the end in their rocking chair. Ugh! Oh well such is life these days...

Ben...The 4 Year Old

I say it every year...where oh where did the past year go? Seems like not that long ago I was pregnant with him and now he's a little boy-no more baby no more toddler. He is an out going, high energy, sweet, the best big brother, emotional, preschooler, stubborn, smart little guy! He makes me laugh so hard every day. He melts my heart every day. He tests my patience every day. I can't wait to see what this next year has in store for him!
Ben's 4th birthday fell on a Saturday so it was nice to have Vince home to help us celebrate! We decorated his room after he fell asleep just last in years past. He was so excited when he woke up! Then we sent him downstairs to get his shoes & coat on so we could go get our traditional birthday donuts. We came downstairs and he had opened almost all of his presents-I could have killed him! So we had a talk about having to ask before we open presents and then we re-wrapped them and then went to get donuts! He got his favorite donuts and an apple juice! Then we came back home and he reopened his presents! We had a nice day at home playing with his new toys! Saturday night we had a birthday dinner for my Mom & Ben. We got pizza from Ben's "special pizza place" aka D'Bronx. We made Ben a birthday cake & my mom a cherry pie. All in all I think he had a great birthday!
