24 Weeks

We have hit another milestone today...viability. God-forbid Itty should be born today he has a 50-70% of survival. We went to the doctor this week and he is measuring right on schedule! We got to hear his heartbeat again which is always such a great sound! I have been feeling him more and more as the days go by. And Vince finally got to feel a few good kicks the other night. The smile on his face was priceless!

Italian Cooking 101

We were really hoping that Vince's mom would be willing to teach us a few things while she was here-and she was gracious enough to spend most of her last day of vacation teaching us!

Meatballs were up first...

We now have almost 100 meatballs in the freezer!

Sauce was up next...

Last but not least is lasagna...

Sunday Dinner...

Yum Yum Yum! And we still have 2 more dishes of lasagna in the freezer!

Round 2 of Parents Visiting

Thursday we headed to the airport to pick up Carol! We are so excited that she made it out to see us this summer! I know Vince has been dying for her to come visit. We had a great dinner at Bistro 19 on Thursday and got to catch up.
On Friday we went sight seeing on Mount. Washington and then headed to the strip district for lunch. We went to our favorite pizza place and it was a hit with Carol! She said it is the best pizza she has even had! Friday night Vince grilled us a great steak dinner.
Saturday we headed to our new breakfast place and then walked around Mount. Lebanon for a bit before heading out of the city to see Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water House. The setting for the home is beautiful! And the house is very impressive as well. I would love to see it in the fall with the change of the leaves. After our long day out and about we grabbed some Chinese at Sesame Inn and then relaxed!

Garden Update

The garden is growing nicely this week! We got our first zucchini and got a ton of green beans and 2 tomatoes. But one of the tomatoes wasn't in the best shape-looks like s bug got to it before we did. We cooked the green beans on Friday and the sucked. They were thin and stringy side. Miles wouldn't even eat them! Vince cooked the zucchini on the grill and it turned out great! We have 5 more that need to grow for a few more days and then they will be ready! The corn is actually growing and has small husks-I am really hoping the corn works out.

Our Weekend

Our weekend was pretty low key. On Friday we went out to eat at Capstone Grille. We decided that since Itty will be here in a few months we better get in as many date nights as we can now!
Saturday morning we went to breakfast at our new favorite breakfast restaurant and then headed on to Ohio to pick up a new leather chair for the hearth room. We thought it might me nice to have a rocker on the main floor to rock Itty and it is also a recliner which is an added bonus! We got a great deal so we drove the hour over to Youngstown, Ohio. Luckily when my parents were out Dad and Vince moved the leather chair from the hearth room to the office. Thank goodness too because that is one heavy chair! Vince got it all set up and then decided to try it out to make sure it was comfy! Looks like its a winner!

Sunday we took Miles for his usual weekend trip to Starbucks and then headed to the grocery store for a few things. The rest of the day was spent just getting stuff done around the house. And Vince playing with his new computer. He has left me in the PC world for the Mac world. We got a super cool new printer that prints amazing quality pictures and the best part is that is was free!

Garden Update
We have finally figured out who has been eating all of our peppers...the bunnies. Our neighbor told us that he sees them run in and grab the peppers and run back out. We thought it was the deer-we never thought of the bunnies. So Vince put up some extra fencing to keep them out. We also got our first taste of the garden today...Green Beans! They didn't really go with our normal Sunday Italian Feast so we had then as an appetizer!

McCormacks In The Burgh

What a great weekend we had with my parents! They got in on Thursday afternoon and we kicked off their vacation with Happy Hour on our deck and then some stir-fry for dinner followed by a nice long walk with Miles! The weather was PERFECT the whole time they were here! It even got chilly enough outside at night we would have to come inside.

On Friday we worked on the nursery. We found a unfinished wood store and bought a bookshelf and a few shelves for the wall. Mom and Vince painted one of the nursery walls a nice light blue while Dad worked on painting the bookshelf, shelves and Itty's naughty stool! They all did an amazing job! Miles and I had the easy job of supervising! After a long day of decorating we changed into our Phillies and Pirates gear and headed downtown to PNC Park for a little baseball. We grabbed a quick bite to eat at a bar/restaurant that Vince and I have been to a few times and Itty was NOT a fan. The restaurant was crowded and had very loud music on-I learned that Itty is not a fan of super load places. He was kicking up a storm until we left and then he calmed down quite a bit once we got to the game.

Saturday we decided to go show Mom & Dad the sights. We first went to Mount Lebanon for lunch at our favorite restaurant Bistro 19 and then to a Celtic store. We wanted to pick out a cross for Ittys room. And we found one that was actually made in County Mayo, Ireland where my Dad's side of the family still has a farm! Then we headed to the top of Mount Washington to get a great view of the city. On the way back we found some drapes to put up in the nursery and hung those when we got home. Vince made some amazing ribs on the grill and Mom cooked up a storm as well for dinner! She made us strawberry shortcake and it was so yummy! I have been eating it for days! I even had it for breakfast yesterday!

Sadly Sunday was the day they were heading back to KC. So we made a nice breakfast and then headed to the airport. It was really sad to see them go. We had such a great time!

Thank You so much Mom & Dad for all your help on the nursery! And for coming to visit! We love you very much!
