Fall Soccer

A few weeks back Ben started playing on his fall soccer team. His team consists of all his Rolling Hills buddies-Ben has been missing his "side-kicks" since we moved him to Nativity for Pre-K so he looks very forward to seeing them on Saturdays at soccer! Ben has had quite the number of cheerleaders already-GG, BaPa, Uncle Matt, Papa White Truck, Grandma Marq, Uncle Potty and Aunt Leah have all come to at least on of his games! The Rockets are currently undefeated! And Ben scored his first goal 2 weeks ago! Unfortunately I was home with sick babies but Vince & Papa White Truck where there to see it! It is so much fun cheering these boys on-Ben has been friends with them since they were 18 months old in Moms Day Out! The absolute best part about these boys is that they truly play as a team. They are so happy when someone scores that they run over and hug the player-it really is the cutest thing ever!

S & V 10 Years

September 24th marked our 10 year wedding anniversary! Some days it feels like it was just a year ago and other days I feel like we've spent a lifetime together. In 10 years we have lived in 2 different states, 3 different cities, bought 6 houses, gone on 9 vacations, had 1 dog, had 8 cars, explored the east coast countless times, had 3 kids, 5 trips to Marco Island, and a few near death escapes (which is more than enough for 75 years of marriage yet alone just 10 years). We have had more fights/disagreements than I can count followed by just as many make-ups. We have seen each other at our very worst and our very best. Together we became parents-we created 3 of the best kids I could ever imagine. Even on our very worst days I am thankful we chose each other to love and take this crazy ride called life together. I can't imagine our next 10 years being quite as busy/eventful/life changing as the first 10 years and to be honest I'm kind of excited to take this decade at a bit slower of pace.

My parents graciously got us a suite of our choice last weekend and volunteered to watched the kiddos so we could have 24 hours away! We decided to stay downtown at the Sheridan where Matt works. Matt went above and beyond-he made sure we had a amazing room with an amazing view of the city. He had 3 bottles wine waiting for us and wouldn't let us pay for a single drink or a bite of food! One of the bottles of wine was a one of a kind design that Patrick designed for us-it is so cool! We had dinner at Pierponts at Union Station. It was our first time there and we weren't that impressed with the service or food that night but we had great wine and a great time reminiscing about the past 10 years! After dinner we met up with Matt, Patrick & Leah and headed to Tannin Wine Bar to continue celebrating! It was a great night! I honestly can't remember the last time we had gone out with just my siblings! We stayed out way too late and drank way too much wine but it was totally worth it! We were so happy they came out to help us celebrate. I haven't laughed so much in a long time! Sunday morning we got up and went to breakfast before coming back home.

On our actual anniversary we went to lunch at Rye and had plans to go to Joe's KC aka Oklahoma Joe's for dinner (our first date was there 12 years ago) but the kids had been at school all day and were hot messes so we just got take out! After we got the kids to bed we celebrated with some bubbly and cheered to our next decade!
The 10 year traditional gift is tin/aluminum & diamonds. I stayed pretty true to tradition and much to my surprise so did Vince! I got him a 6 pack of one of his fav beers and a tin of popcorn! I also took him on a journey of "us"-a awesome KU print and cuff links. KU is where it all started and the cuff links are 3 different pairs-one representing KC, Philly & Pittsburgh. And he got me diamonds-he is getting me a halo of diamonds around my engagement ring!

M.O.M.M.Y.

Ben and I were playing a new favorite game of ours on the driveway after school the other day and I wrote our names to keep score then Ben said..."Mommy I want to write your name" and he picked up a piece of chalk and sat right down and did it with no help from me! I had really never given much thought to seeing one of my kids write my name but boy that moment filled my heart right up. To see your name written by your kid is such an unforgettable moment-I won't lie I had a tear in my eye and wanted to jackhammer the driveway up to keep it forever. He then went on to write Abby, Will and Daddy!

Abby & Will's 1st Day of Moms Day Out

Last Thursday was Abby & Will's 1st day at Rolling Hills. Following in their big brothers footsteps they started Moms Day Out. Abby & Will are in Miss Lisa & Miss Kathy's class-Ben had Miss Lisa when he was in Moms Day Out and also had Miss Kathy as his teacher one summer so I was thrilled! Miss Lisa had been waiting for this day since she found out I was pregnant! The babies had a great 1st day! Will walked right into the classroom and started playing! Abby stood by the door with her lovie & b (binky) just taking it all in. There was no tears when I left! They got good reports at pick up-Will didn't nap but Abby did for a bit. They were exhausted when they got home! It was early to bed that night! Ben loves that the babies are going to his "old school" and he loves coming with me to pick them up so he can see his buddies that are still there!

The Unofficial End of Summer

Labor Day 2015 was pretty low-key for the Rupp's. We worked on some house projects and squeezed in some of the last items on our summer to-do list. Most of Saturday was spent at the pool-our last pool day of the summer. We got there right when they opened and a few hours later the club put on a pool party full of games and a DJ! Ben and his partner took 1st place in the water-balloon toss and won a free ice-cream and then he went on to place 1st in the belly flop contest and won another free ice-cream! The kid was on cloud nine! Will could not stop jumping into our arms into the pool! And Abby would have floated in the pool all day had we let her! We pushed nap back and I finally took the babies home for a snoozer about 3pm and Vince & Ben stayed up at the pool for a few more hours!

Sunday we crossed off a summer-to-do list item and had a water-balloon fight. Well I should say we TRIED to have a water-balloon but it ended up with Ben throwing balloons randomly, Will just trying to pop the balloons and Abby wondering around aimlessly! But still the kids had fun and Vince & I somehow remained dry!
