Ben's 1st Visit To Deanna Rose Farmstead

We met the Phillips family out at Deanna Rose Sunday morning. This was Ben's first visit but Courtney is a seasoned visitor! We first stopped off at Ben's Bank and then went to feed the baby goats. Ben tried to steal one of the goats baby bottle for himself! Ben took a ride on a tractor and then we stopped off in the Indian teepee and met up with the Phillips! After a look at some cows and a few calves we headed over to see the chickens, turkey, pigs, ducks, goats, buffalo and birds. We finished the visit with a trip down the big slide for Courtney! Then it was off to lunch at the Blue Moose. It was so nice to be with friends! And to watch the kids play together! We are looking forward to many more Phillips/Rupp gatherings!

Family Fun Saturday

Saturday was a day full of family! Yet another day we are so happy to be back in KC! Saturday was Matt's 25th birthday so we started the day off helping him celebrate! We met Mom, Dad & Matty down in the Power & Light Dist. to check out the small art fair and have a birthday lunch. Vince & I had gone to this art fair it's first year (4 years ago) and I felt the first years was much better than this years. It was very small and the art was pretty pricey. But we still enjoyed walking around and looking at the art. Matty decided on Gordon Biersch for lunch and we decided that we would get a highchair and see what Ben thought. He loved it! He acted like such a big boy! We had a great lunch and Matt got free cake for dessert!

We headed home early afternoon and had a nice visit from Angela & the kids! Ben loved playing with his cousins! And it was nice to catch up with Angela! We are so happy that Ben gets to grow up with his cousins around!

Grandpa Rupp & Grandma Marq wanted to see Ben so we thought it was a great chance to have a little bbq. They both came over after work and got to spend some quality time with Ben as we prepared dinner. We had a nice night with good food and good company!

Ben & Sweet Potatoes

Ben did great with the carrots! We learned quickly that he prefers my carrots to Gerber carrots-Go Mommy! We decided sweet potatoes would be Ben's next food...and he loves them! They had a great sale on them at the grocery store so I cooked 10 of them a few days ago. I have been a baby food making machine the past week. We have a nice stock pile of carrots, sweet potatoes, peas and green beans in the freezer. We also decided that 7 days seem like a long time to wait before trying another food-we figured that it would take him a year just to get through all the fruits and veggies! So we decided to go with the shortest amount of days on the 3-7 day range. So we will be starting peas in a few days! Since we started on the veggies I have noticed that he has dropped a few bottle feedings and is going longer between meals which is a nice treat for me!

Ben's 6 Month/Family Picture Sneak Peek

Last night we headed out west to a farm to have Ben's 6 month pictures taken.  I decided that I didn't want to take his 6 month milestone pictures because I wanted to be in them as well! So we lucked out and found a great photographer (Shannon) who managed to squeeze us in! It was a beautiful night that felt a bit more like early spring than late spring but the lighting was great! Ben did such a great job! We took pictures for about 2 hours and Ben never got upset once. He is such a happy baby! He loved being outside! Shannon our photographer put up a sneak peek on her blog and we should have them all in the next week or two. I can't wait to see more!

Who Loves Carrots??? Ben Does!

So Thursday we decided that carrots would be Ben's first veggie. We decided to do the veggies first-we have read/heard that babies like the fruit way more since it is sweeter. he opened the baby food maker and got to work. It was pretty simple and they tasted pretty good! So we sat Ben down for lunch and gave him his first bite...he wasn't to sure at first but seems to like them now! We will give him carrots for 7 days to make sure we doesn't have any allergic reactions and then more on to another veggie for a week.

6 Month Check Up

Tuesday was Ben's 6 month check-up. We decided to go try out Village Pediatric since we had heard good things and they are close to the house. We both really liked them. Our nurse was amazing and the doctor was really good too (when we go back for his 9 month I made an appointment with another one of the doctors-just want to check a few of them out so we get the right fit). The doctor & nurse agreed that we had one very healthy happy baby! Ben surprised both of them with his perfect sitting up skills! We got cleared to start fruits & veggies which we are super excited for! Vince bought me a baby food maker a few months ago on a trip to Sur La Table in Pittsburgh and I have been dying to use it! We also got the ok to up his formula from 4oz to 6oz! Lets hope he will go longer than 2 or 2 1/2 hours between bottles now!

Here are Ben's 6 month stats...

Weight: 20lbs 0oz (90%)
Height: 26 3/4 inches (75%)

26 Weeks

6 Months

Mothers Day was also the day that Ben turned 6 months old! 6 MONTHS! Holy Cow! It feels like we have had him forever but also it feels like he was born last week! So now Ben sits on his own, eats oatmeal twice a day, can hold his own bottle and is a rolly polly! It is so crazy to think in 6 months we will be celebrating his first birthday!

Mothers Day 2011

This year marked my first official non-furbaby Mothers Day! Vince & Miles have always been super sweet to me on Mothers Day and last year Vince spoiled be rotten with a beautiful diamond necklace. So this year I just wanted to be around our family and enjoy the day with  my boys (to me my gift was being back in KC for good!). So after a crazy weekend of moving and after a nice morning and great cards from my boys we headed to my parents for brunch. It was so nice to have some one on one time with my parents (Patrick was heading home from a wedding in Nebraska and Matt had to work)! After brunch we headed over to Vince's grandparents house. His grandpa had not met Ben yet so it was super special to see his grandpa with his first great-grandson! We headed back over to my parents house for dinner (with my brothers) and I got spoiled rotten by them! It was so nice to be an actual part of mothers day in person not via skype! I hope all the great moms out there had just as a great day as I had!
