Marco Island (Days 1 & 2)

We left Monday for our first family vacation...a week in Marco Island! I had never been to Marco but Vince has been quite a few times (his grandparents use to have a condo down there). We were so excited to take Ben on his first vacatiuon and start a great family tradition!

Day 1

We had an 8am flight out of Pittsburgh so we had to wake Ben up a few hours earlier than he is use to getting up. But he did great-changed him, fed him and away we went to the airport. This was going to be Ben's first flight! We took the advice of feeding him as we took off and landed to help his ears and it seemed to work! He took a little snooze when we got up in the air and then woke up to flirt with the flight crew! A woman sitting behind us compliemented us on how wonderful he did.
Once we landed we swung into Babies R Us for some formula and diapers and were then on our way for the hour long drive to Marco. We stopped once we hit town to grab some lunch. We realized that aside from a few walks in the neighborhood and a few times on the deck Ben had never really been outside. I think he really enjoyed it!

Once we finished lunch we went and checked in to the hotel and started unpacking. We thought Ben might take a nap while we unpacked but he was to busy checking everything out!

As soon as the unpacking was done it was off to the beach! It was so nice to be in the warm sun! We hung out on the beach and had a fruity coctail to celebrate the start of our vacation! On our way back to the room we stopped at the pool for a minute and put Ben's toes in the water. He didn't seem to mind it!
We headed off to dinner at a restaurant that was walking distance from the hotel. Ben of course wanted to be fed as soon as my salad come-so typical!

After dinner we were exhausted so we got Ben's sleep tent set up and got him to sleep. He woke up around 6am and I went to grab him and noticed that he had rolled onto his tummy! We now have a roller!

Day 2

Tuesday was our lazy day! We slept in (well Ben and I did while Vince went for a run on the beach), sat on the terrace, ate a late breakfast and then headed back to the beach!

We left the beach for the pool around lunch time so we could grab a bite and then let Ben go swimming for the first time. He didn't know quite what to think but as the week went on he seemed to be really enjoying it.

We had a great dinner on the beach! We got to watch the sunset and eat with our toes in the sand. I had the best crab stuffed shrimp ever and they had awesome sangria!
