G & G in the Burgh
Grandma & Grandpa McCormack came out for a visit last weekend. They got in on Thursday afternoon and stayed until Monday! We had such a great visit! It was so nice to have 2 extra sets of hands helping with Ben! And I don't think they ever put him down the 5 days they were here!
Sunday we took Mom to one of her favorite stores...Sur La Table! She is so happy that they are putting one on the Plaza soon! We ended up buying a baby food maker while we were there! So in 2 months when Ben is ready we can make his food at home! Sunday night Mom cooked Vince's Belated Birthday Dinner...fried chicken! Yum Yum Yum! It was a great way to end the trip! Monday came way to fast and before I knew it we were loading up to head back to the airport. It is always so sad to see them go. Thanks Mom & Dad for coming to visit/help! You are welcome back anytime!
On Thursday night we took them to our favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner! Ben was great and slept until the food came out-of course! I swear that kid know the second I pick up my fork!
On Friday we just hung around. Ben helped Grandpa with his crossword puzzle and Grandma played with him! We ran a few errands and Mom cooked a yummy dinner.
Saturday morning we took them to our favorite weekend breakfast spot! Saturday was KU vs MU so we had to hurry home so we could watch the game! Rock Chalk Jayhawk! While we watched the game game Mom was busy making sugar cookies in the kitchen! And after the game we all helped her decorate the cookies! Then Vince & I headed out on our first date night since November! We headed to the movies, grabbed a nice steak dinner and stopped off at our local watering hole on the way home! It was so nice to get out and know that Ben was in great hands! Sunday we took Mom to one of her favorite stores...Sur La Table! She is so happy that they are putting one on the Plaza soon! Ben & Rice Cereal
Late this afternoon we gave Ben his first go at rice cereal. It went about as expected. I think he liked the spoon more than the cereal! Once he has the rice cereal for a few weeks he gets to move on to oatmeal.
Here's the link to the video we took.
4 Month Check-Up
Friday was Ben's 4 month check-up. He is now 25in long and weights 16lbs 12oz. That puts him in the 50% for height and 90% for weight. The doctor said he is right on track developmentally and physically. She wants us to start rice cereal and the move on to oatmeal in a few weeks. And then once we go for our 6 month check-up we can start veggies & fruit. I can't believe we are already to the introducing food part of his first year. He had to get 2 shots in his leg and one oral. He was such a trooper-cried after the second shot but as soon as I picked him up he stopped crying. We gave him some tylenol so we could be ahead of the pain so we didn't have to relive the pain he was in from his 2 month shots. But luckily these rounds of shots didn't seem to really bother him!
4 Months
A year ago on March 7th is when we found out I was pregnant and now 1 year later I have a beautiful 4 month old baby boy! Time is just flying! Ben has changed so much in the past few weeks. His personality is coming through more and more- I think he is a perfect mix of me and Vince! He's stubborn but funny. He has no problem telling you he isn't happy. He loves to laugh! Baby giggles are just one of the best sounds I have ever heard. His head/neck control is great-he loves to sit in his bumbo! He moves himself all around on his playmat-I'm sure rolling over will be next. It is so cool to watch him change before our eyes. We are truly blessed!
