Grandma & Grandpa McCormack
Saturday was a big big day...Grandma & Grandpa McCormack flew in from KC to meet their first grandchild! Ben took his first trip to the airport (one of many I am sure). He had a sign all ready for him Grandma & Grandpa but they landed early so our plan didn't work out so well but that's ok. After the airport we headed for a late lunch where Grandma & Grandpa finally got to hold their grandson for the first time!

Ben's Big Day
Fist Doctors Appointment
Friday was Ben's first doctors appointment. Ben now weights 7lbs but the doctor said that it is normal and that he will start picking up the weight soon. I mentioned to the doctor that Ben wasn't using his left arm as much as his right. The doctor examined him and was pretty sure he had broken his left clavicle (collar bone)during delivery. So she sent us to get x-rays to be sure. Ben was such a trooper-he didn't even cry during his x-ray. The x-ray tech called me over right away to look at the x-ray and sure enough even I could tell it was broken. So his x-rays were send down to the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh to confirm the break. The good news is that it shouldn't take very long to heal.
Ben did not like being naked for the doctor

First Restaurant
Next we headed to Red Robin for some lunch. Ben didn't even flinch in the noisy restaurant-he just kept on snoozing!

First Store
Babies R Us was up next after lunch. We needed to just run in and grab a few items but I think it is impossible to just "run into" Babies R Us. Our Babies R Us has just converted from a Babies R Us to a Babies & Toys R Us. I am so so so not happy about this merge. Now they don't carry half the items we need/like and are always out of the things we need that they carry. Poor Vince HATES that store.

Bath Time
Thursday night was a big night for Ben...it was his first bath! We heated up the bathroom with a space heater hoping that would make it more comfortable for him-no luck he HATED his sponge bath. We teamed up and conquered as fast as we could. Once we got him wrapped back up in his towel he was much happier baby!

Coming Home/1st Day at Home
Hospital Stay
BVR
Benjamin Vincent Rupp was born November 8, 2010 at 12:41pm. He weighed 7lbs 8oz and measured 20 inches.

Trip #5 to Labor and Delivery was finally the trip that we left with a baby! We checked into the hospital Sunday night around 9pm and I was given some cervidel (medicine to make my cervix more favorable for the induction of labor)and it ended up jump starting my labor. By 7am I was 3 centimeters dilated and the doctor broke my water. From there the labor started to fly- by 10:30am I was fully dilated and started pushing at 10:45am. Two very long hours of pushing later and baby Ben was born!

Trip #4 To Labor & Delivery
We had another doctors appointment this morning. My blood pressure was pretty high still so that landed us back in labor & delivery for the 4th time in less than 2 weeks. I got put on all the monitors and Itty was doing great but my blood pressure was pretty high. For the first hour of having my blood pressure being taken every 5 minutes I set off the alarm every time. But thankfully my blood work came back good and finally my blood pressure went down a bit. The doctors decided that they really want to deliver Itty but want to wait until I hit 39 weeks (Sunday) before they take him. Waiting these few extra days drastically reduces the risks of breathing and other problems. It also eliminates him being classified as a preemie . So I am back home still on bed rest and we are scheduled to check into the hospital Sunday night at 9pm to start the induction process. So it looks like we will have a baby on Monday! The doctors have warned us that this early induction increases the chance of a c-section so we could use everyone's prayers that we can avoid that.
