The Sunday we got back from Nashville was Fathers Day so once we got back home we started off the celebrations! Ben had worked hard on some special projects for Daddy and his Grandpa's. He had picked out birdhouses to paint for his Grandpa's and he insisted on getting and painting a dinosaur for Vince. Ben was so excited to give him his dinosaur! Vince promptly took it to work to put in his desk! Ben is one lucky boy to have such a fun, loving, involved, caring Daddy! And we try to let him know
We went over to Patrick & Leah's house for a Fathers Day dinner! It was an evening full of good company and good food!

The Blue Whales
The weekend we were in Nashville was Ben's very first ever soccer game. I was really sad we were going to miss his first ever game but I knew my family would not disappoint and would fully document the whole experience for us. And sure enough Mom, Dad, Matt, Patrick & Leah all took him to his first game! They sent us a ton of pictures and my camera had over 300 pictures on it from the game!
Natalie & I thought that Ben & Ryan might really enjoy playing soccer together this summer so we signed them up with Happy Feet. They are on the 3-4 year old team (so Ben is by far the littlest guy on their team) and their team name is The Blue Whales! From what I hear the boys seemed to have a good time and were really engaged for about 60% of the practice/game. The other 40% of the hour they spent playing and eating snacks!

N.A.S.H.V.I.L.L.E
I've said it before and I will say it again...Vince is one of the best husbands ever! This year for my birthday he surprised me with a weekend trip to Nashville! Nashville is was on our short list of places we wanted to go but have never been. I was so excited for our trip! I love when we can get a away for a few days just us and enjoy each others company without sippy cups, strollers and diapers.
We left Friday morning and I have to admit that Vince had said something strange (on accident I know now) and I kinda thought maybe Angela & Kurt may just be coming with us to Nashville. But after getting to the airport and then onto the plane and no sign of them I figured I was wrong. When we got to Nashville we dropped our bags off at the hotel and went straight down to Broadway to listen to good music and get a drink. We were sitting at the bar at Rippy's enjoying our first cocktail in Nashville when Angela & Kurt walked into the bar! I literally about fell off my bar stool. I was really in complete shock!

The rest of the weekend was full of what you would expect from a weekend in Nashville...Music, Drinks and Food! One of our favorite places was Robert's Western World which played a lot of old country and blue grass. We spent much of Saturday in and out of that place!
We had such a great time with Angela & Kurt. It rarely happens that we are just with the two of them (minus their kids and our kid) so we really got to have a nice grow-up weekend! I feel so special that they took time out of their busy lives to come surprise me in Nashville for my birthday. A big thank you to Vince, Angela & Kurt for everything! Love you!Saturday, June 8, 2013
Thomas The Train
Chug-a-Chug-Chug-a-Chug Choo-Choo...
That was our saying of the day last Sunday as we drove to Baldwin, Kansas to take a ride on Thomas the Train! We met up with the Latta's out there and the boys couldn't wait to start having some fun! It was kinda on the rainy and chilly side but that didn't stop the boys! First up was getting our picture with Sir Topham Hatt. We kinda guessed how this would go with Ben but we tried anyway. We did get our picture with Sir Topham Hatt but per the usual Ben is buried in my chest with a death grip on me. At least he tried! They had a real firetruck and Ben couldn't wait to go see it and "drive" it and "ride" in back and wear the fireman's real hat! Up next was the bounce house! Apparently we spent was to much time at the bounce house because we got in line for our train ride a little late and we didn't end up getting to sit with the Latta's. But the boys both seemed to enjoy the ride! After getting off Thomas Ben saw a red train that he was sure was James one of Thomas' friends (it was actually a dinner train that you could walk through). So of course he ran right onto the train and was in heaven when they gave him a cookie! After that Ben got his very first tattoo and of course he picked out James! Then it was more firetruck driving, school bus touring and bounce house bouncing before we had snack and called it a day!

Sporting KC
Last Saturday night Patrick & Leah invited us to the Sporting KC game with them. It was our first time and it sure didn't disappoint! As we got in our seats the pre-game fireworks were going off-this was the least favorite part for Ben. It has been awhile since he had been close to fireworks and he covered his ears and buried his head in my chest. But after it was over we wanted to see more and is still talking about them! Ben loved cheering..."GO KC"-"Get That Ball"-"Run Run". He had a blast! Not to mention he got a huge bucket of popcorn so he was in heaven! Even though we lost (hopefully we weren't bad luck) it was still such a fun evening and we can't wait to go to another game!
